Project Overview

Client: CiaoLINK - Le Land Books
Industry: EdTech / Consumer Products
Timeline: 2023
Role: Product Manager & Illustrator – Edutainment Product

I created, illustrated, and launched a physical, family-friendly alphabet tracing and coloring book centered around dinosaur themes. The workbook offered kids ( 6- 7 years old ) a fun way to practice writing, creativity, and fine motor skills. It became one of the company’s top-selling children’s products, expanding our reach into the education and parent-consumer market.

The Problem

CiaoLINK - Le Land Books had an increasing number of parent users but offered very little for their children especially in the physical, screen-free space. Parents were looking for learning tools they could trust, use at home, and keep their kids engaged offline. Internally, there was hesitation about investing in physical creative products. I saw this as an opportunity to bridge the gap with an educational experience that was both playful and purposeful.

How I Approached It …
  • Step 1: Discover the need
I studied app analytics and noticed recurring searches for “kids activities,” “tracing worksheets,” and “alphabet learning.” I validated these insights with a quick parent survey and several interviews. The need for physical, educational materials was real — and underserved.

  • Step 2: Test with a low-cost prototype
I created sample activity pages pairing dinosaurs with each alphabet letter and tested these prints with a handful of parents and kids. Each letter came with 4 interactive pages: coloring, line tracing, alphabet tracing, and a doodle prompt. Feedback showed kids loved the visuals, and parents appreciated the structured learning format.

How I Ideated …
  • I asked myself: how can we make handwriting practice fun enough that kids ask for it? Dinosaurs were the clear winner. I designed the concept around them, hand-illustrating 26 unique dinosaurs and crafting four pages per letter. Each page focused on a different learning skill- visual recognition, motor control, creative expression, and literacy. I also made sure the book worked well in both black-and-white and color to reduce printing barriers.

The Solution

We launched a 104+ page dinosaur-themed coloring book , professionally printed workbook designed entirely by me - from ideation , illustrations to final product. The product was easy to use, beautifully themed, and packaged for offline learning. Parents could order directly from our online store and start using it right away, no tech required.

What I Learned

Designing for kids means being playful, but purposeful. And designing for parents means making things easy, valuable, and beautiful. This project taught me how to own the full product lifecycle from user research and creative concepting to design execution and market launch.

The Impact

The workbook became a top 5 seller in our Kids category, with over 2,000 units sold in the first quarter. Parents left enthusiastic reviews and posted photos of their kids using it on social media, which fueled organic brand growth and validated the potential of physical edutainment products in our strategy.
